Identifying the source of a question

General information

All questions in Exampro have unique IDs. They are displayed on the right hand side of each item in the Questions window and are a combination of numbers and letters that reflect the original source of the question.

Interpreting question IDs


All of the question IDs follow a regular structure that is appropriate for the relevant qualification. Some examples of common features are shown below. This is not an exhaustive list but should help to explain where an item in Exampro has come from.

All IDs begin with ‘Q’. Almost all then indicate the year of the exam series.

In some question banks, the year may be followed by a letter to indicate the time of year.

N can be used to indicate the November series. may be used for Summer and for Winter, particularly for questions from legacy specifications.

Specimen paper questions are shown by the letters SP.

Where appropriate, questions with multiple parts may be split into more than one item in Exampro so they can be used independently or collectively.

Finding a series or paper

Use the Source tab in the search tool to select questions from a specific series or paper. Once selected, the Questions window will show only questions from the selected series or paper.
