Options for entering marks

There are two methods for entering marks into the system.

  1. Online marking
  2. Spreadsheet upload

Online marking can be used while you are marking the papers, entering marks as you go or when all the papers are marked.

The spreadsheet method can be used once all the papers are marked.

Note that if using the spreadsheet method, you must use MERiT to download the appropriate spreadsheet template.

By default, the Enter marks online button will be selected. If you prefer to use the spreadsheet, click the Enter marks via spreadsheet button.

Once you have selected your mark entry method, you will see a list of the papers associated with the selected set of tests. You will now need to enter the date the test was taken on by typing the date into the box or more easily, by clicking the calendar icon and using the date picker.

Specifying the date that the test was taken is important as it enables us to collect and publish population data based on the performance of pupils who took the tests in the same period; this way you can compare like with like.

Once you have entered the date you should click the Launch mark entry button for online mark entry or click the Download button to download the correctly formatted spreadsheet for the selected test and class.

Note that if any marks have already been entered for the set/class combination selected. you will see a Resume mark entry button for online mark entry or Download and Upload buttons for entering marks by spreadsheet that allow you to continue mark entry from a previous session.

Remember, you can always switch between online and spreadsheet mark entry at any time. All marks previously entered by either method will be saved and visible from the other online or in a freshly downloaded spreadsheet respectively.

Please see the next two sections of FAQs for details of online and spreadsheet mark entry respectively.
